First Snow

Winter has arrived to my small town in Southern Ontario.
It started snowing on Sunday evening and continued all night.

This was taken around 9 p.m. on Sunday evening. The snow was almost raining.
I always love the first snow, it gives a photographer some challenging conditions in which to try your hand at some creative shots. I was hoping for a light dusting to give a winter wonderland look.
But as you can see the small mounds in the forground of the picture are sedum and the seedheads are buried.

By morning the stairs leading from the back deck had a lot of snow and

my favorite chairs were hugh mounds.

I have been shovelling snow everyday since, as it has not let up until day.
But today was perfect, blue sunshine and sparkling snow covered trees, a magical time.

A Christmas Snow!!

Good morning Jen,
Snow is pretty to look at, isn't it? I would much rather look at it than have to work in it though! So far, the snow is holding off here on the Island which is good for my hubby. Your shots are wonderful! Have a lovely day.

Christmas blessings,
Sandi

Oh my goodness - it's been a long time since we've had that much snow all at once - May 2008 or May 2009...I do hope that this winter storm system will abate and allow you to get out and about before Christmas! Good luck with all the shoveling! You captured the snow in artistic shots.

Dear Jennifer, What pretty pictures. I love the sepia quality of them as that makes them seem vintage rather than of the present. You do seem to have had a large snowfall so I hope that you are safe and warm.

The first snow is always wonderful. What lovely photos you took, especially of the snow on the garden furniture. We have yet to have that much scnow yet ... but I know it will arrive here soon ... probably sooner than we want.

Snow is so beautiful (in your pictures anyway;>) .)

Also, your header mosaic is just beautiful -- it looks like it should be a quilt or a wall hanging!

We've been having a lot of cold and frosty weather for a month now, but not that much snow at once (thank goodness) Although, if we do, I too will be out in it taking some photos.
Your pictures are wonderful!!!!!! Today it was 48 and melted most of our snow!! Wintry greetings from South Dakota! Thanks Jen!

Oh my, you have had a LOT of snow. It is pretty even though it's hard to shovel and makes a mess of the roads.

Us here in the Southern Hemisphere love the thought of snow and a white Xmas...I've experienced one once and it is as idyllic as we think, but then it lasts forever till April /May and that isn't as nice...I hope it stays lovely for you and does not inconvenience you too much...have a good one...

Jennifer,
Beautiful pictures. Your photography is amazing. It has been cold in Florida but no one really wants to hear about it....
