Birthday Giveaway

On February 28th 2010 I pushed the Publish Post button and A Garden of Threads
was born. I cannot believe one year has passed.
I have enjoyed the year, meeting new bloggers,
playing along on the memes and learning something new everyday.
To celebrate this 'milestone' I am having a giveaway, a way for me to say thank you,
for all the wonderful comments and inspiration you have shown over the past year.

Included is a quilted table topper (which I made), a plate and a scissor pals.

A closeup of the plate.

Scissor Pals can be attached to your scissors.
I have one attached to my good quilting scissors and everyone knows not to touch.

If you are interested in winning this giveaway, please leave me a comment
requesting your name be added to the pot.
I will post the winner on February 28th.

Take care!!!

Fertilizer Friday

I inherited a large Christmas cactus from my Mother-in-law and brought it home just before Christmas.
A few weeks ago, shots started to appear and I thought wow new growth.
But no, tiny flower buds were forming.

The only free window I had by patio doors leading to the deck
is constantly blowing air around it, but
it does not mind and continues to bloom.
I thought they liked draft free locations,
did not like being moved around the house and to increase watering when blooms appear.

I have not done one of these suggestions;
but it is blooming with these gorgeous hot pink flowers.

If you need a flower fix, then visit Tootsie Time
for Fertilizer Friday.

Take care and thanks for stopping by for a visit!!

Mosaic Monday - Lovebirds and Sweethearts

I do not need a fancy heart
With Cupid's dart and bow,
To tell me in a flowery verse
What I already know.

I do not need a costly gift
Presented as a sign,
That though the years have come and gone
I'm still your valentine.

I only need your loving smile
Each time I look your way...
For this to be from start to end
A perfect Valentine's Day.

Visit Mary at Little Red House to view some wonderful mosaics.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

p.s. the couple in the mosaic...my youngest son and his fiancee; two of their engagement pictures

One Challenge Quilt Finished

Hello Everyone,
Once a month I get together with a group of quilters for a day of quilting, laughter and eating. Last year we had a block exchange using Christmas fabrics. We each made 8" star blocks in red, green, gold and combinations of the three. This year our challenge was to use the blocks in a quilt. I divided them into two groups; green and gold and red and gold.

I put a scrappy border around each block using green and gold fabric
and alternating them to make this large lap quilt.

The next quilt will be red and gold.

I have not added the scrappy borders yet, but was playing around with a layout.
I like this design, but more then likely this will change once the borders are added.

Thank you for stopping in for a visit
and have a great day.

Mosaic Monday - Trip to a Greenhouse

On Tuesday a girlfriend and I went to Toronto to visit Allen Gardens.
We wondered around soaking up the tropical atmosphere in the greenhouses,
while taking pictures.

I am joining Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday.

Thank you for stopping in for a visit.
Have a wonderful week!!!
