Freedom

Have you been limiting your choices, yourself and your life, then wondering why life is so limiting? Set yourself free. Give yourself permission to experience and taste more of life. You are here to live your life - fully, richly, passionately. The journey has been about more than cleansing, healing and spiritual growth. You have a body, emotions, passion and thought. You are here to bring all parts of life, to connect the parts and to fully live your life.

Partake of the abundance of the universe.
You're sitting at a banquet table. Let yourself feast.
Move on from monitoring, watching, limiting.
Experience all of life that you can.

Journey To The Heart`

Enjoy your day!!!

Happy Birthday - Pink Saturday

I have some beautiful pink tulips to celebrate the 3rd Birthday of Pink Saturday.

Here is a close up.

Is it not the most beautiful pink? I love the bit of green in each petal.
A similar colour combination as a Summer Table Runner I am working on.

The top is almost finished, the applique needs blanket stitching around the flowers, leaves and stems.
I am having a bridal shower in June for my future DIL and this is my present to her.

An out of focus shot of the whole top.

I am joining Beverly at How Sweet the Sound
for Pink Saturday.
Drop in and wish her a Happy Birthday!

Have a great weekend.

A Touch of Spring - Mosaic Monday

Hello Everyone, I would like to thank everyone for their concern. My son and his partner's babysitter cancelled one week of the two week job and of course I came the rescue.

The garden is bursting with so much colour I had a hard time picking colours and flowers for my mosaic. I decided on a yellow and white theme.

Starting in the upper left corner and moving clockwise,
Tiarella, a yellow tulip, white daffodils
 and Stylophorum diphyllum (Wood Poppy)

I am joining Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday.
Be sure to stop by and visit all the participants.

I enjoyed your visit and have a wonderful week!!

Native Plant Profile

I had to make an emergency babysitting trip north to help my son and his partner. The woods along the way were full of Ontario's beautiful floral emblem, Trillium grandiflorum.

Their single white flowers are simple with three triangular to oval petals, and their leaves are a whorl of three green sepals at the top of the stem with the flower perched on top.
The white flowers turn pink with age.

As the fruit matures, they will bend close to the ground and split open, exposing clumps of sticky seeds.  Each seed has a large bump, called an elaiosome, that ants find irresistible.  The ants carry the seeds back to they nests, where the elaiosome is eaten and the seed discarded well away from the parent plant.
It can take up to two years for the seeds to germinate and at least six to seven years before they will flower.  Some Native peoples used the trillium roots and rootstocks as medicine, and the young leaves are said to make excellent salad and cooked greens. But once the leaves are picked the plant dies, it would be a shame to kill such a beautiful plant.

They are native in Quebec, Ontario and the eastern United States. Trilliums prefer partial shade, rich, well drained soil that is neutral to slightly acid and full of organic matter. They are often wild dug, so make sure your source guarantees plants are nursery propagated.
A wonderful addition to the woodland garden.

Pink Roses for Mother's Day

Roses were my mothers' favourite flower, especially pink ones.

Her 82nd birthday would have been Monday,
most years Mother's Day and her Birthday were celebrated together.
I only have wonderful memories left as she passed away over a decade ago.
These pink roses are for my Mom.

I am joining the parties at

How Sweet the Sound for Pink Saturday

and

Little Red House for Mosaic Monday

Happy
Mother's
Day.

Blossoms from the Woodland Garden

The garden is coming to life, but there are not enough flowers to take you on a tour.
But the woodland garden is looking beautiful so lets' go in
 and see what is blooming.
I have some cultivars growing along the tree line.

The King Alfred Daffodils have been blooming for awhile and are almost finished.

Pulmonaria 'Pink Dawn' is flowering and waiting for the Hummingbirds to arrive.
The should be here any day.

Hepatica flowers are very dainty so be careful,
they have started coming up on the pathway.

Trilliums are in bud and should open by the end of the weekend.

You will have to lay on your stomach to look at this flower,
it is Wild Ginger.

Sanguinaria canadensis (Bloodroot) is almost finished blooming
but Sanguinaria canadensis 'Multiplex' opened today.
It does not spread as easily as the single and does not
supply food for the bees and ants. But it is lovely to look at.
Bloodroot likes full to partial shade, rich, slightly acid soil
and average moisture in Zones 3-10.

I am joining Tootsie Time for
Fertilizer Friday.
I hope you enjoyed a walk through the woodland garden.
Have a great weekend!!
