Mosaic Monday - Rural Rootz Nature Reserve

After a busy wedding weekend, hubby and I visited a garden just north of Wiarton, Ontario called Rural Rootz.
To quote their brochure "Rural Rootz is zoned Industrial Extractive, so we put a conservation easement on the property to protect it for future generations. Known as, The Adventure Garden of the Bruce, we offer diverse activities catering to body, mind and spirit. The perennial gardens, Rural Rocks Side Trail, an official Bruce Trial loop and shorter, self guided nature trails are all open to the public. Come play  in our hundred acre back yard, for an hour, day or more! Wander our gardens and our trails. Walk our labyrinths or experience the Spirit Walk." We had a marvellous time recharging our batteries.

We wondered around the gardens for awhile and then went for a walk through the wood
to the Church in the Valley.

A New Addition to the Garden

Hello Everyone, I hope you are having a great week. Last summer while on a garden tour with my Horticultural Society I purchased one of the Sunset series Echinacea.

This coneflower produces loads of fragrant, single blossoms which open red-orange and lighten to golden orange as they expand and age.

Meet 'Summer Sun'. A reliable solution for hot, windy locations where nothing else will grow.

It is very tough and durable. Cutting off the faded flower stems will prolong flowering.
But, it does not like winter wetness, which is not a problem with my sandy soil.
It will grow to 40" high in full sun or part shade.

Thank you for stopping in and I hope you enjoyed the visit!!

Pink Saturday - Urns

I hope everyone had a great week! I was very busy this week, it is only two weeks today to my son's wedding. Time is flying by and there is not enough hours in a day to complete everything. The colours for the wedding are black, white with pink as the accent.

The wedding is outdoors, keep your fingers crossed for a nice day, at a local golf course. It is a beautiful parklike setting with a gazebo. In early spring I planted two black urns with pink flowers to use beside the gazebo.

Here they are just outside my front door. Every time there is a thunderstorm in the forecast I must put them in the garage. No holes in the flowers!

A close up of a pretty pink petunia,

and a pink and white geranium.

Mosaic Monday - Doors

Welcome, I hope everyone is having a wonderful long weekend celebrating Canada Day and Independence Day.
Hubby and I made our yearly trek to Niagara-on-the-Lake, last week, to see some plays at the Shaw Festival. We saw My Fair Lady, loved it, and The Admirable Crichton, different. While wondering along the Main Street I found some interesting doors.

Thank you for your visit and enjoy the week!

July 1 is Canada's 144th Birthday.

There will be celebrations in towns and cities across the country.

An abstract photo in our national colours, red and white.

This is a special effect called Monet Painting with the camera.

Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian friends!

Happy Independence Day to all my American friends!

Have a happy and safe holiday weekend.
