First Flower!!!

A few years ago I thought I would try and grow orchids. Every couple of years I would lose one and now there are only two of the original five left. Before one died it produced a baby and I have been nursing it along every since. This year it produced its' first flower.

I love the purple veining around the edges.

I feel like I am inside a large flower here, a bugs view.

Have a wonderful day!!!

Isn't it wonderful to have these blooming at this time of year? I have been growing them for years, and although they are not too attractive when they are not in bloom, they give such a wonderful show in January/February. This is a beauty, and such a wonderful photograph of it!

Thank you so very much for sharing with us this week at The Creative Exchange.

Have a great day!

How wonderful Jennifer! Aren't orchids just beautiful? I have several ones and they are blooming just now, too! I love the purple veins - so soft!

I've been debating trying to grow one for years. They are so pretty but I'm afraid a kid or the dog will break that one flower stem off and then I'll never see another bloom. What a pretty one you have and congrats on getting a bloom from it!

Orchids are so beautiful! The second shot does make one feel like a bug in the flower. Great macro!

Gorgeous! In the beginning, I was very timid about orchids but they rapidly became one of my favorite indoor flowers. It's fun to nurture them along. And, their blossoms! Oh, my!
