Red and White Quilt - Finished!!!

I have been sitting on this quilt telling myself "I will start quilting it soon", but never seemed to find the time. Late this fall I finally took it to a quilter and had it finished.

When I started it many years ago it was called 'Christmas in the Valley',
the name reminded me of a small cottage,
snug in a snow covered valley with woodsmoke lazily raising in the twilight.
The pattern was featured in a quilting magazine and the name was changed
to 'Stars in the Valley', you can find the pattern here.
But to me it will always be 'Christmas in the Valley'.

I had always envisioned snowflakes blowing across its' red and white surface
and the quilter found a simple but lovely pattern for me.

I can scratch another unfinished project off my quilting 'To Do List'.

Thank you for stopping by and have a great day.

Your quilt is beautiful. The snowflake quilting motif is perfect for it too. Shortening the UFO list is a lovely bonus :)

You must be so pleased to have it done and on a bed - it is so crisp and fresh looking. That's what I love about red and white. Well done!

The quilt is so lovely. Aren't you glad that you finally finished it. I did the very same thing. I made a red patchwork with lady bugs on it. I finished the top but it took me years to finally get it the quilter, which I did last spring. You will enjoy your beautiful work of art.

I'll join you with Christmas in the Valley. I used to quilt, all by hand. When I see gorgeous quilts like this, I want to start one. I love the piecing so maybe I could find a quilter to do the finishing....thanks for the thought even if I don't ever start!

I've pieced several quilts, but haven't found the time to quilt them. I hand quilt, so it may take a wedding to actually finish them. Yours is beautiful.

Oh, this is just absolutely stunning. Red and white is a favorite combination of mine. So, pretty. It never occurred to me that you could 'hire' a quilter to finish things up. (I have a half-finished quilt in storage that I found in my Mother's attic after she passed away.) I need to look into this...
