Camera Critters - Chipmunk

We had three chipmunks in the yard in the very early spring, the snow was still on the ground, and it dawned on me the other day that I have not seen them for two weeks, you know what that means.  When they return the number 3 will have multiplied by how many babies each had.  Now we have a Chipmunk Convention going on in the yard.  They will eat the flower buds, the tops of the beets, the lettuce, carrot tops or anything they deed tasty and that changes from year to year.  I had to go into the archives to find this picture of one of last years delegates getting a drink from the pond.

Chipmunks sure are fun to watch but they can do their damage - my dad just feeds them pellets to keep them out of his gardens - they are happy and so is he!

Hi Jen
Chippies can be a nuisance to gardeners and luckily here there are so many hungry feral cats that they keep the numbers down.

We don't have chipmunks (I always think of the Christmas chipmunks!!) here ... just our cute, pesky squirrels! It is family time.

This is an amazing capture, as you surprised him at the pond. They are so cute, what a beautiful fur they have. They must eat something, the poor things.

What a wonderful capture! I don't see chipmunks around my area, but the squirrels sure eat everything.

What a great capture! Cute

Dear Jennifer, This is somewhat alarming. Although your photograph of the squirrel drinking from the pool is a lovely image, the destruction these animals can do in the garden is quite another matter.

I shall hope for you that the three you mentioned have taken up their spring quarters elsewhere!

Nice chipmunks. It is so adorable. Reminds me of the recent movie too, Alvin and the Chipmunks 2.

So cute! We have the same thing once the baby squirrels are out running across our fence and chasing each other up and down trees. Luckily they don't seem to cause as much trouble as it sounds like the Chipmunks do.

Oh, I just love chipmunks. We don't have them here in Cape Breton and I miss them so much. Used to have a little guy show up for lunch at my back door every day in Mass. He even had his own little dish! ~ks
