Mosaic Monday - A Summer Goal

At the beginning of every summer I have a list of goals I hope to accomplish that season. This year I did not give myself many goals, as the list keeps growing longer from year to year with unfinished goals from the previous year. As you can see I get very lazy when the temperature raises. But, I had one goal that I did work on, to get some pictures of the hummingbird in the garden. Here are some of those pictures.

Today will mark the second weekend in September and I am surprised they are still in the garden. Every day they travel around checking the nectar in the struggling annuals left on the decks and fighting over who has the right to use the feeders. I hope they leave soon as the longer they wait the harder it will be to find a prime location to spend the winter.

See what others have posted for Mosaic Monday

Thank you for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful week.

I love humming birds and you got some marvelous images. We lost so much of our greenery this last winter that I missed out on their migration... next year!

I'd say that you accomplished your goal beautifully! Those tiny creatures are such a joy to watch.

Well done Jen! Patience pays off while waiting to photograph these little beauties.
Sounds like you make an annual garden bucket list!

Your humming bird pictures are beautiful. Hector ( that is our pet name) and his wife and extended family and friends are still here, Buddy and I live for their arrival each year. We have 3 feeders going all summer so family and friends are quite happy to live here with us. They do appear to be getting a bit more aggressive these days...guess they are anxious about their journey ahead and storing up on enough food to get them through the LONG trip. Last year they stayed with us until Halloween so are keeping our fingers crossed they will hang around for a good while longer this fall.

Hugs,

I will be so sad to see them go.
Beautiful capture. I know it took some work!

My admiration for those who capture pictures of hummingbirds in flight knows no bounds. What beautiful shots! (Read Sharon Lovejoy's blog earlier and she mentioned that the hummers had all taken off. She's on the coast of Maine.)

Oh how pretty, I don't get many hummingbirds around my house, but now and then one comes up to my petunias at my kitchen window and it is such a treat!

I love these MM with animals on it. Especially with birds, one has to be very patient to take fotos of them. We don't have hummingbirds where I live, so nice to look at your photos and watch them.

Just beautiful!! I do love hummingbirds! However, of late they've had to compete with bees that have been feasting at my feeder. Have a grand day! Cathy

They are wonderful! We have a yard full of them and I've yet to get a good picture. I keep saying I'm going to have to take a chair out and just sit still. Your photos are amazing!

Thanks so much for visiting me...I hope you will come back!

How did you get such great pictures of the hummingbirds...they are wonderful. I have some pictures too but they aren't as clear as yours.

I love watching them feed when we have our means at the diningroom table...they are right outside the window.

Ours are still around and very very hungry...
have a wonderful day.
Also - did you leave a comment on my Giveaway? I hope so.

What a beautiful bird! My husband and I were sitting outdoors on this lovely day and one came to the garden only 1-2 feet behind us. How I wish I would have had my camera in hand. I'm sure they'll be gone in another week or so.

Beautiful collage of the hummingbirds! I am still seeing them here too even though I have very few flowers in the garden from the August drought.

Jennifer,
Lucky you!!! They see me and leave. This year they have seemed quite skittish. I do best with things that don't move!

Thanks for sharing - just lovely.

I, too, have long lists of garden projects that don't seem to get finished. I also wanted to get more bird photographs this year but was not nearly as successful as you. These are wonderful, Jen! Our hummers stay through the winter and one of my daily duties is getting up well before dawn to make sure the feeders aren't frozen. At first light, they are right there every day no matter how cold it is. So sweet. Thanks for sharing these charming photos. – g
