Reflecting Back

It has been months since I last posted here and with the year coming to a close I thought I would reflect back.

My New Year's resolution list was small this year, it contained one goal, work on improving my photography. What a journey it has been.  I took Mentorships both on Google+ and privately with some wondrous photographers and attended a Macro Photography Conference. But the most courageous thing I did was apply to The Arcanum , "the magical academy for the mastery of the arts".

I filled out an application, all the while thinking; you have no chance, your photography is not good enough, but that little voice that struggles to be heard spoke very loudly that day and said, "nothing ventured nothing gained, so do it". I did it! And promptly forgot about it, because I didn't really believe I was good enough. An e-mail arrived in my inbox - your application has been chosen by Arcanum Master Ron Clifford - you could have blown me over with a feather, I was in shock, still unbelieving. It took me two days to accept I was so scared. And with that courageous act I started the most unbelievable journey to improve my photography

The last eight months Levelling up within Ron Cliffords' Cohort of the Brave, where I am one of 29 apprentices, has been an amazing journey. I have finished Sphere 0, the Foundation Levels and I am about 2/3 of the way through Sphere 1, where the Apprentice, me, takes bolder steps in their artistic and personal direction. My fellow Apprentices are astounding photographers from all over the world and it is only with their support and encouragement I am able to be 'Brave'.

Here are five images from my Level 15

Blessings!!!

Congratulations on all your photography achievements the past few months, Jen. Your photos are stunning. I like the fall scene and the backlit one to the right of it. All the best as you continue with the course. Pam

Very beautiful images. I had the same reaction as you when my application to the Arcanum was accepted and I received my invite from my Master: +Craig Colvin. I didn't accept right away because I was scared too. But, now I'm about to have my 1st critique with Craig coming up soon. There's definitely some amazing photographers out there.
